Duties and Responsibilities:

Pre-Camp Season:

  • Prepare Arts and Craft area for season
  • Prepare an inventory of all Arts and Crafts supplies
  • Prepare a list of material required for the summer
  • Develop a program of craft activities for each camp session suitable for the age and abilities of the campers

During Camp Season:

  • Responsible for safety in the arts and crafts area
  • Inspect arts and craft shelter and surrounding area daily
  • Maintain order in the Arts and Crafts storage shed
  • Submit daily report to the Camp Director
  • Evaluate all campers abilities and develop suitable activities
  • Encourage all campers to participate in planned activities
  • Supervise the maintenance of the outhouses and outdoor wash stand

End of Season:

  • Submit end of season written report on arts and crafts activities
  • Submit end of season inventory of arts and crafts materials/equipment
  • Make recommendations for future summer programs

Daily:

  • Coordinate and participate in daily schedule of activities and chores
  • Assume responsibility for safety of campers and report all injuries to the Camp Directors
  • Participate in nightly campfire program
  • Know where campers are at all times during sessions and special activities
  • Ensure Arts and Crafts pavillion and surrounding area is clean and tidy
  • Work to ensure all campers are included, safe and comfortable
  • Attend counsellor and staff meeting nightly
  • Bring forth concerns to Camp Directors
  • Participate in all other camp activities

General Duties:

  • Complete bed check of entire camp once a week
  • Take part in evening curfew patrols with other scheduled staff
  • Follow camp rules and expectations
  • Serve as a positive role model for campers
  • Perform other duties as assigned

  • Previous camping skills
  • Demonstrated leadership skills
  • Demonstrated artistic flair – performing skills
  • Demonstrated organization skills
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Team player
  • Basic First Aid Pleasure Craft Operators Card (encouraged)
  • Current Bronze Cross (strongly encouraged)
  • Must be 17 years of age

Expectations:

  • Participate in the regional tag day program
  • Participate in the pre camp work sessions
  • Participate in the camp orientation program
  • Participate in 6 camp sessions (Monday morning – Saturday morning)
  • Participate in camp closure

One Arts and Crafts position is available for the 2018 season.
